My self reflection

                                     My self  reflection

I would like to give something back to the community.
So I volunteered in SKMC ( Sheikh Khalifa Medical City) in Abu Dhabi, according to the hospital policy I had to do many thing to be a member of the volunteering team such as blood test and police clearance litter and in the last the orientation, than I start my volunteering program as flows Learning how to make my own attendance and to know all suction of the hospital and clinic and what kind of volunteering job that you are going to do and I am as volunteer in the hospital I should be commitment to hospital rolls and policy ,I think the most important one is the privacy of the patients and I respect that also SKMC volunteers provide many valuable services such as greeting and escorting patients and their families to various locations within SKMC, providing wheel-chair assistance to patients, in addition to providing office and administrative assistance in various departments Volunteers play a vital role in delivering the SKMC mission through educating the community and increasing their awareness of the many services available at SKMC. Volunteers also assist in educating the community about many health related issues.
because I think the Volunteering is a great way to invest in the community or to give back some thing to the community. When I volunteer, I share my time and skills with People and organizations without expecting to be paid from them, As volunteer you have the chance to improve your career and experience in many ways, from getting workplace experience to building skills and get a lot of good relationship with the hospital staff and the People who are considerate, respectful and positive who you deal with.  Volunteer experience helps me to reach my career goals. It is gives me a sense of satisfaction by making others happy and helping others realize that people do care about them.

2903 Community Service – Volunteer Project #2Day

Second day as volunteering in SKMC i learned that

Volunteers play a vital role in the day-to-day operations of SKMC, assisting patients, families and healthcare professionals on a daily basis. At information desks, on hospital floors, and in many of patient service areas it is often the face of the volunteer that first greets the patient.

SKMC volunteers are a multicultural mix of people of all ages who dedicate their time and energy to help others. They reach out with their talent, skill, interest and compassion to help meet the needs of patients and the community by assisting in a variety of ways.

Some of my volunteering job which is calling the patients to remember them of their next appointment and to record that if they will present or not and some time I reschedule the appointment for them.

Sheikh Khalifa Medical City, managed by Cleveland Clinic, serves as the flagship institution for SEHA's healthcare system. It is governed by its commitment to practice modern medicine to the same high standards as the best medical facilities in the world. SKMC’s comprehensive health care services cater to the needs and priorities of the Abu Dhabi community, ensuring not only optimal levels of patient care and satisfaction but also promoting general health and well-being through education and awareness.
Sheikh Khalifa Medical City consists of a 586 bed Acute Care Hospital, 14 Outpatient Specialty Clinics and a Blood Bank, all accredited by Joint Commission International (JCI). Additionally, SKMC manages a 125 bed Behavioral Sciences Pavilion, and an Urgent Care Center located within the city of Abu Dhabi.

  • Abu Dhabi Central Hospital - built in the late 1960’s and the oldest hospital in Abu Dhabi, it served as a 200 bed hospital until it was scaled down in 2003 to an emergency center and an outpatient dialysis unit
  • Abu Dhabi Psychiatric Hospital - a 120 bed facility
  • Abu Dhabi Rehabilitation Center - an 88 bed facility that was serving mainly as a nursing home for the elderly and people with special needs
  • Al Jazeera Hospital - built in the 1970’s, a 300 bed acute care medical facility which was open for expatriates who lived on Abu Dhabi island only
